Supporting the Greater Miami Community

A version of the following message was sent to all JPMorgan Chase employees from Fernando Ruiz, South Florida MLT co-Chair, Billy Krauss, South Florida MLT co-Chair, and Michele Grace, Southeast Region MLT Chair.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the Surfside partial building collapse that occurred last Thursday. We are committed to caring for our community by supporting organizations in providing immediate assistance to the families that have been affected by this devastating tragedy. Working with local organizations, our firm is supporting the South Florida community through the following commitments:

  • $100,000 to the Miami Foundation to support the Surfside Hardship Fund. Established by the Coral Gables Community Foundation, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, the Knight Foundation, the Miami Foundation, the Miami HEAT and other local partners, the Surfside Hardship Fund will provide support to those impacted by the building collapse through basic needs, housing and mental health services.
  • $5,000 to the American Red Cross (South Florida Region) to support their efforts in providing emergency hotel lodging to displaced residents and supporting families at the assistance center, a safe space to receive food access, emotional support, and additional aid from community organizations.

As a reminder, the firm will match employee charitable contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $1,000 in a calendar year for eligible employees, including to the Miami Foundation.

We’d also like to extend a special thank you to the Surfside and Skylake branch team members who have gone above and beyond to personally assist our clients and customers impacted by this tragedy.

It’s so important for us to stand together to help each other and our communities. We are stronger together.
