Our support for the Pacific Northwest during wildfire season

The following note was sent to all JPMC employees based in the Pacific Northwest in response to this year’s devastating wildfires across the Pacific coast. For more information about our response to the wildfires in California, click here.

Dear colleagues,

We have all been affected by this year's devastating wildfires across the Pacific Northwest. With the potential for more to come, it’s so important to stand together for each other and our communities.

The firm has committed $100,000 toward relief efforts to support regions most impacted in Oregon and Washington. These dollars will support the Pacific Northwest Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund managed by United Ways of the Pacific Northwest, as well as Causa of Oregon, which is responding to the needs of Oregon immigrants who are being affected or evacuated by wildfires across the state.

Many communities where our company has a presence are struggling to manage the impacts of natural disasters, and these disasters are expected to grow over time, disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable populations. In the longer term, the firm is looking at ways to increase disaster resiliency for our communities and address the broader impacts of climate change, including on the West Coast.

2020 has been a challenging year. Our path to recovery will be long, but as always, we are committed to supporting our employees, customers and communities until they’re back on their feet again.

Our best,
Phyllis Campbell, Northwest Regional MLT Chair
Michael Hurley, Oregon MLT Chair
